DEVELOPED INDIA AND WETLAND CONSERVATION: A CRITICAL EXPLORATION
DR. SURENDER KUMAR
Abstract
India's rapid economic growth, urbanization, and industrialization have led to profound transformations in its environmental landscape. Wetlands, which are among the most vital ecosystems in the country, provide a wide array of ecological services, yet they face significant threats from development activities. This paper critically explores the intersection of India's development trajectory and wetland conservation, analyzing the challenges, policy frameworks, and potential solutions for integrating environmental preservation with economic growth. The paper also evaluates the role of national and international conservation strategies in mitigating the pressures faced by wetlands in a rapidly developing India.
