Abstract

This research paper explores the evolution and current state of physical education (PE) in the Global South, with a particular focus on India. It examines the challenges faced, such as economic constraints, cultural attitudes, and lack of infrastructure, alongside opportunities like government initiatives and international support. The Indian PE scenario highlights historical influences, present disparities, and efforts like the Khelo India scheme aimed at fostering talent and improving facilities. Recommendations include strengthening curricula, teacher training, infrastructure development, and promoting gender equality.
